Finally: a treatment for cellulite that attacks its very structure

Are you frustrated that you can’t get rid of cellulite, no matter how hard you try? Even if you eat healthily and go the gym?

Here’s a fact that may surprise you. Cellulite is actually caused by factors outside your control. Many believe it’s a fat problem, which can be addressed through diet and exercise. But fat isn’t the only culprit. Cellulite is a structural problem below the skin. And while you may have tried every treatment possible, you’ve never had a way to treat the very structure of cellulite. Until now.

We pride ourselves to be the very first clinic to introduce the revolutionary Cellulaze Laser into the UK and Europe by Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi in 2011.

Cellulaze Laser

Introducing Cellulaze from Cynosure, the only treatment that attacks the structural problems beneath the skin that causes cellulite. A minimally invasive, laser-assisted procedure performed by a qualified physician, Cellulaze is a new anti-cellulite treatment clinically proven to increase your skin’s natural thickness for a smoother, healthier look that lasts. All from just one simple anti-cellulite treatment.

How Cellulaze works: a unique approach

Aging, hormones, genetics and dramatic weight changes can all play a role in the appearance of cellulite. These factors can cause connective tissue bands under the skin to stiffen and the fat cells they surround to become larger and push up into the skin. And that creates the “cottage cheese” effect you wish you could eliminate, which is even easier to see if you have thin skin.

You can’t control these factors, regardless of how many miles you run or how many salads you eat. But you can control how you treat cellulite. Many other anti-cellulite treatments focus on cellulite superficially, applying treatment above the skin. Only Cellulaze treats the fibrous bands beneath the skin, while also thickening and adding elasticity to the skin.

The Cellulaze laser is designed to diminish lumpy pockets of fat, release areas of skin depression and increase elasticity and thickness of the skin. Patients usually require just one treatment.

Cellulaze laser

Cellulaze laser proprietary SideLight 3D side-firing technology directs controlled, laser thermal energy to the treatment zones – typically the buttocks and thighs.

In the Cellulaze laser surgical procedure, which is performed under a local anaesthetic, IV sedation or light general anaesthesia, the surgeon inserts a small cannula – a narrow tube the size of a pen tip, under the skin.

The Cellulaze laser treatments have demonstrated a benefit from the use of subcutaneous laser energy in terms of tissue tightening through tissue coagulation as well as the regeneration of collagen and connective tissue.

After local anaesthesia is administered to the treatment area, the Cellulaze laser fibre, threaded through a cannula, is then inserted through a small incision.

Cellulaze combines the use of a pulsed ND yag laser and cynosure’s sidelight, side firing laser, as the laser energy is applied to the tissue, micro bubbles begin to form at the tip of the laser, these bubbles serve to disrupt and heat the pockets of fat, at the same time the energy delivered is highly absorbed by the adipose tissue, which efficiently breaks up the tissue and disrupts the fat.

The sidelight technology allows you to directly target the tissue from different angles to treat the underlying causes of cellulite. Next the Cellulaze laser energy is used to thermally subside the septal bands which pull down on the skin and create the dimpling effect.

Releasing these bands creates smoother looking skin. In the last step the laser energy is directed upwards and the skin is gently heated. This coagulates the collagen and allows the growth of new collagen, ultimately increasing skin thickness and elasticity.

The ThermaGuide temperature sensing cannula has a thermistor near the treatment tip of the fibre that profiles temperature sub-dermally near the treatment site. This information is relayed back to the laser.

The laser, in turn, has two user selectable temperature settings a treatment (Rx) limit and a high (Hi) temperature limit. During the laser procedure, if the laser detects that the subdermal temperature reaches the Rx limit, the laser will stop emitting energy until the cannula is moved to another treatment area (cooler than the Rx limit).

If the high (Hi) temperature limit is reached during treatment, the laser stops and instructs the user to take measures to immediately cool the treatment area. Once the laser error has been cleared, lasing can resume in another treatment area (cooler than the Rx limit).

An optional audible tone can be set for both alarms to further aid in profiling subdermal temperature while treating.

Mr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains: Effective cellulite treatment means addressing the three structural causes of cellulite:

Fibrous septae, bulging pockets of fat and the natural thinning of the skin that occurs with aging.

Cellulaze Laser treatment employs the 1440-nm wavelength along with the proprietary Sidelight 3D fibre, which directs laser energy precisely where needed to achieve long-lasting, effective results.

With the laser energy directed upward, the skin is slightly heated coagulating the collagen and stimulating a growth of new collagen. Turn the handpiece ninety degrees, and the laser thermally subcises the septal bands that pull down the skin creating the dimpling effect. Rotate the handpiece another ninety degrees and the laser energy disrupts the bulging pockets of fat.

Cellulaze is also equipped with cynosure’s intelligent delivery technology; thermaguide and smartsense. Cynosure’s thermaguide ensures optimal results throughout the procedure. A temperature probe at the tip of the cannula constantly monitors the subdermal temperature and automatically remains a safe target temperature.

Smartsense accelerator technology automatically turns the laser off when the handpiece is stationary, preventing the likelihood of overheating or hotspots. Both thermaguide and smartsense technologies are important for providing a uniform treatment and yielding the best possible results.

Cellulaze

The Cellulaze laser treatments have demonstrated a benefit from the use of subcutaneous laser energy in terms of tissue tightening through tissue coagulation as well as the regeneration of collagen and connective tissue.

Patients in clinical studies have demonstrated an average increase in skin thickness of 23% and 27% at one month and one year, respectively, while skin elasticity increased an average of 32% at one month and 21% at one year. Like any procedure there is a period of healing when new collagen is formed. Ultrasound measurements have demonstrated a 22% increase in skin thickness and a 32% increase in skin elasticity.

Are there any possible side effects?

Possible but very rare side effects can include bleeding, infection, scarring, skin and fat tissue necrosis, skin contour irregularities, skin discoloration purpura, asymmetry, surgical shock, pulmonary complications, aesthesia, skin loss, hair loss at treatment area, sarcoma, allergic reaction, and anaesthesia related complications.

Cellulaze

An estimated 85 percent of women and 20 percent of men over the age of 20 are affected by cellulite, a degenerative and largely untreated condition in which dimply herniation’s and depressions develop within the layers of the skin.

Our clinic is well known for introducing the latest proven safe technology, specialising in body sculpting, fat reduction and skin tightening. (Smartlipo 2006, VelaShape 2007, Smartlipo MPX 2008, Body Tite 2009, Smartlipo Triplex 2010, Cellulaze 2011).
