Prof Simon Myers

Professor Simon Myers is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, who is interested in all aspects of plastic and aesthetic surgery.

He has a further interest in problem scar management, non-burn trauma, non-cancer breast reconstruction, post-bariatric reconstructive surgery and a burn injury medico legal practice.

Professor Myers is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Plastic Surgery at Barts & The London Medical School and Honorary Consultant in Plastic Surgery at Barts & The London NHS Trust.

Speciality

Professor Simon Myers is interested in all aspects of plastic and aesthetic surgery including body contouring procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, abdominal reduction, liposuction, correction of male breast (gyneacomastia), and facial plastic surgery, face lift, eye lid and eyebrow surgery.

He has a further interest in problem scar management, and a burn injury medico legal practice.

Professor Simon Myers was awarded his PhD from University of London in keratinocyte growth and differentiation in cutaneous  wound healing and cultured keratinocyte grafting in 1999.

He completed a Burn Fellowship at the Broomfield Burn Centre in 2001, and became Director at the Chelsea & Westminster Burn Centre in 2002, achieving designation for that service in the National designation process.

He became Medical Director of the Stephen Kirby Skin Bank, and established a collaboration between the burn service, the Children’s Fire and Burn Trust, and the London Fire Brigade aimed at burn prevention.

He received an award of merit as an NHS Champion from the King’s Fund in 2004.

At the beginning of 2006 he was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary & Westfield College , and Honorary Consultant Plastic Surgeon to the St. Bartholomew’s and The London NHS Trust, and Honorary Consultant Burn and Plastic Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital. He was also appointed Visiting Professor in Plastic Surgery to Anglia Ruskin University.
