Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi have been using the well-known cosmetic medicine Anti-Wrinkle Injections for many years not only to soften the lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes areas but to treat migraine as well, now he is very excited to see that Anti-Wrinkle Injections could help in treating depression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains that botulinum toxin causes the nerve to not make the muscle move as much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains that Anti-Wrinkle Injections is FDA approved for the following uses:

To prevent headaches in adults with chronic migraine who have 15 or more days each month with headache lasting 4 or more hours each day.

To treat increased muscle stiffness in elbow, wrist, and finger muscles in adults with upper limb spastic.

To treat the abnormal head position and neck pain that happens with cervical dystonia in adult.

To treat certain types of eye muscle problems or abnormal spasm of the eyelids.

To treat the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when medicines used on the skin do not work well enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


To improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults for a short period of time (4-6 Months).

To improve the look of crow\u2019s feet lines in adults for a short period of time.

To treat leakage of urine (incontinence) in adults with overactive bladder due to neurological disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains: Anti-Wrinkle Injections treatment is relatively safe when performed by an experienced doctor. The most common side effects are swelling or bruising at the injection site, sometimes headache or flu-like symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the injections are in the wrong place, the Anti-Wrinkle Injections could spread to other areas, causing eyelid droop, cockeyed eyebrows, a crooked smile, dry eye or excessive tearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mental health experts suggest frown lines are one indicator on the face that shows how one is feeling. Meaning we carry our emotions on our face by smiling when we are happy or frowning when we are sad. The doctors wondered if Anti-Wrinkle Injections could keep one from frowning less could it lead to less depression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clinical study included 30 clinically depressed patients and first time Anti-Wrinkle Injections users who were diagnosed with major depression. The 24-week-long study was as follows: For 12 weeks, 19 patients received a placebo injection, 11 patients received Anti-Wrinkle Injections injections in the forehead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctors studied the patients\u2019 symptoms of depression then switched the groups at 12 weeks and studied the patients for the remainder of the 6-month-long study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patients were allowed to stay on previously prescribed psychiatric medications; the Anti-Wrinkle Injections was an added treatment. However, four patients were not taking any medication at the time and the Anti-Wrinkle Injectionswere the sole treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patients who have receive Anti-Wrinkle Injections they felt a significant difference and less depressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctors say the results of the study were \u201cpleasantly surprising,\u201d as they have found that a 42-percent reduction in depression symptoms in patients who have received Anti-Wrinkle Injections treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the doctors were intrigued with the results they were also looking for answers as to exactly how the Anti-Wrinkle Injections can change a depressed patient\u2019s mood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctors say that the theory as to why Anti-Wrinkle Injections may lead to less depression is based on the fact that Anti-Wrinkle Injections have the ability to depress the nerve activity just to these specific muscles then, the brain\u00a0doesn’t\u00a0feel it that the patient is\u00a0frowning. So the brain stops having that feedback and there are actual chemical changes that reduce all the signs of depression and anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
