Before and beyond any of our treatments, there are so many things you can do yourself to help your skin through the harsh winter months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi is a firm believer of \u201cprevention rather than cure\u201d when it comes to our appearances with his \u201cenhancing, but preserving natural beauty\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi says that although these winter days are short and you may feel like you\u2019re not even getting Vitamin D let alone the sun possibly causing problems, in fact any sun exposure at all requires some protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skin exposed to the Sun is a massive cause of premature ageing. For those patients who are regularly using sun beds, to help your skin I would advise they cut down on usage as much as possible or preferably stops using them altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women unfortunately have thinner skin than males so need to work harder to protect their skin, I recommend applying an SPF sun cream every day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"458\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health_Obagi.jpg\" alt=\"ZO Medical Skin care\" class=\"wp-image-783\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health_Obagi.jpg 458w, https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health_Obagi-275x300.jpg 275w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>ZO Medical Skin care<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi \u2013 \u201cOverheating your skin can cause it to lose the natural oils that are essential to maintaining its health and cause it to dry out too much, damaging rather than helping.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayoubi suggests trying to turn down the temperature of your showers a notch and adds that central heating can also really dry out your skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi has seen an increase in numbers of patients of coming to his clinic for skin consultations since the New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to maintain a balanced diet, snacking on fruits instead of fatty or artificial foods can really help the skin. A lot of patients have enjoyed the Christmas and New Year celebrations by indulging in less healthy food and drink. Make it your New Year Resolution to make sure you consume at least 5 a day fruit and vegetables.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He adds, \u201cWhilst it\u2019s always ideal to have a balanced diet that includes all the necessary vitamins and minerals, sometimes busy lives make it hard. Supplements can be a great way to top up our diets. Avoiding germs in the winter can be hard so it\u2019s best to build up those defences and keep everything in working order.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"679\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health.jpg\" alt=\"ZO medical skin care\" class=\"wp-image-784\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lmaclinic.com\/lma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Dr_Ayham_Al-Ayoubi_ZO-skin-health-768x521.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>ZO medical skin care<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi : Drinking plenty of water to ensure you remain hydrated throughout the day is important for your general health, but also is very good for your skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no strict minimum and fruit and vegetables contain water but it\u2019s a good idea to consciously try to drink more than you may be used to as the majority of people don\u2019t drink enough. I would also recommend a glass of water before every meal to avoid overindulging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi adds that taking care with alcohol can also help.\u201cIncluding as much water as possible when drinking can help. Drinking a glass of water in-between alcoholic drinks will prevent the toll alcohol takes on your skin and save on hangover woes. Big nights out and alcohol can particularly show on the skin around your eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthy Skin can also be boosted by keeping the basics in order.\u201cCleansing the face and body twice daily followed by moisturising as soon as you have patted (not rubbed) yourself dry is important. Also remembering to remove makeup before sleeping and keeping lips moist should be part of your daily routine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi \u2013 \u201cYour hands are one of the most exposed parts of our body. Take care to moisturise regularly. Keep some moisturiser at your workplace if you\u2019re finding it hard to keep the dryness at bay.
