Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi from The Medical and Aesthetic clinic has been appalled by the recent media news that has been brought to light over the weekend.

In recent media news stories, doctors as well as the public have been warned of the dangers of ‘seagull surgeons’ who fly from abroad into Britain on day trips to carry out surgical operations on patients often without insurance. Sky News has recently presented details of patients who have suffered complications from poor cosmetic surgery procedures carried out at British clinics.

Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi said ‘Patients need better protection’, and he stated that the government must regulate the “fly-in, fly-out” surgeons and insist they have proper indemnity insurance. In addition, Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi emphasized that for the protection of the patient it is imperative they have insurance of a level that allows them to work in the United Kingdom.”

Sky News brought to Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi’s attention the story of one of the  patients, who went for a liposuction procedure with what she thought was an experienced surgeon . Unfortunately the cosmetic outcome of the surgery was very poor and left with lumps and indentations on her thighs.

A U.K based solicitor did try to track the surgeon down in Italy, but unfortunately without any success, and what’s even worse is that the clinic where the procedure was carried out had completely denied any responsibility.

Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi is extremely disappointed  by this news and appalled that there are visiting surgeons out there that get away with this in our country and without looking after the patients from beginning to end.

At the London Medical and Aesthetic clinic we believe that after surgical care is always as important as the surgical procedure itself.

Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi said  “After any surgical  procedure , the patients need the care the most and If the aftercare is not sufficient, serious health complications can arise, the patients can be very unwell both physically and mentally, with worry’. And it is the duty of the surgeon and his team to make sure that the post operative care is their standard routine “.

“The highest quality of patient care must be always offered to the patients and at our London Medical and Aesthetic clinic, Dr Ayham Al- Ayoubi always makes sure that contact and the clinic contact is available to his patients to call him anytime if they have any concerns or questions after the surgery.

Follow up post surgical Consultations are always regularly booked in to ensure the healing is successful and the patient is happy”.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi supports the decision of the Department of Health spokesperson, who said: “The NHS Medical Director Sir Bruce Keogh is currently carrying out a review into regulation of cosmetic surgery. “The review will be published in March. Its recommendations will be evidence-based, with the safety of the patient at the forefront.”
