There are a great number of people who still have to battle stubborn areas of fat and cellulite that just won’t budge, no matter how much we exercise and change up our diets.
When these kinds of body issues start to impede on our confidence levels, it is only natural to want to research other ways of getting the desired body shape. However, cosmetic surgery can seem like an extreme measure to take, especially when the only image a patient has of liposuction is being put to sleep and having to deal with nasty bruising and scarring, but there is another form of cosmetic surgery that may be the answer – Smart Lipo.
What is Smart Lipo?
Smart Lipo is a form of laser liposuction performed by a cosmetic surgeon. First introduced to the UK by Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi in 2006, this procedure involves the use of a calibrated laser beam that is inserted under the skin via a cannula and since then Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi has introduced the second and third generation of Smart Lipo, including Smart Lipo MPX and Smart Lipo Triple and has pioneered the laser assisted liposuction technique in the UK and worldwide.
The laser destroys the fat membrane using its thermal energy, transforming the cells into a liquefied form that can be eliminated by the body’s circulatory system. Also, the liquified fat can be sucked out using a special cannula to give immediate results of fat reduction in addition to the skin tightening. The procedure can be performed under a local anaesthetic or under light general anaesthesia.
How is it Different to Liposuction?
As Smart Lipo uses more of a targeted approach, it is usually suggested as an efficient method for removing smaller areas of fat, such as around the arms, neck, and face, with the smaller instruments used, the surgeon is able to work close to the surface of the skin causing a tightening effect not seen with traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction is more often used on patients with larger amounts of fat and involves the removal of the fat via suction. The results, therefore, can often leave them with sagging skin and a longer recovery time. Smart Lipo is a less invasive treatment that causes less swelling and bruising compared to a traditional liposuction treatment. Another advantage is skin tightening, giving the patient a smoother, even and more defined results.
Smartlipo is More Common Than You Think
While traditional liposuction deters those wanting fast results, Smart Lipo has increased in popularity due to its relatively quick treatment time and a speedy recovery process, having to wear compression garments for only a few days and patients travel from all around the world to have Smartlipo laser liposuction preformed by Dr Ayoubi in London. As with all surgery there are risks involved and although it is the surgeon’s job to prevent them, they cannot be eliminated, but new advances in technology have meant that procedures like Smart Lipo can provide better results with fewer risks.
Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi: While patients may be stuck with a body they’re not 100% happy with, there are other avenues to go down when patients have exhausted all efforts in trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. As always, make sure you do the relevant research and find a reputable clinic before going ahead with any procedure. The ideal person for Smart Lipo-Laserlipo is someone with generally good health, who carries out regular exercise, has good eating habits.
