Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi at the facial transplantation conference with Professor Philip Blondeel, the guest honour speaker at the Royal Society of Medicine, London, UK

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi a facial plastic and laser surgeon was impressed by the lecture about  Facial transplant surgery which was introduced by Neil Bulstrode , the Plastic Surgery Section President from The Royal Society of Medicine.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi further attended the case study of ‘Immediate titanium cranioplasty for brain tumours invading the skull’ particularly interesting, this was presented by Dr Kathrin Meier from the Department of Plastic Surgery, guys and St Thomas NHS foundation Trust, London and the presentation  by Ms Katerina Anesti , clinical fellow in Skin Cancer Surgery from the Guy’s and St Thomas ‘ NHS trust, with the subject of ‘Saving open frontobasal skull fracture with brain herniation.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, Medical Director of the London Medical & Aesthetic Clinic participated at the facial transplantation conference where the main lecture was presented by Professor Philip Blondeel, Professor of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery from University hospital Gent.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi found the case presentation of ‘Enhanced robustness and mobility of the keystone flap’ of particular interest. This was presented by Ms Jurga Pikturnaite – Plastic Surgeon from Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, London. This was followed shortly by the case presentation of Mirror-image vastus muscle perforator artery propeller flap for knee defects by Ms Whitney Chow from the Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation trust, London.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, attended an exceptional case study of the subjects of perforator flap based on the the vasa nervosum of the anterior branch of the fermoral cutaneous nerve presented by Dr Manaf Khatib, a core surgical trainee from the Department of plastic surgery and Burns, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, London.
