Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi a facial and plastic and laser surgeon was asked to look at the pictures of the duchess at her first solo charity engagement showed a large line against her scalp on the left side of her head.

Experts were quick to describe the line as looking like a weft hair extension, which is inserted under layers of real hair to achieve extra body. But palace sources said the line was a “scar from a childhood injury”. The injury was serious and resulted in an operation, but no further details were given of the injury or when it happened.

The mark just behind her hairline in front of her left ear was spotted as she stepped in to host a private dinner in aid of In Kind Direct after Prince Charles was required to visit Riyadh to present condolences to the Saudi Royal Family following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. When a glowing Duchess of Cambridge stepped out at a charity event, sporting her trademark half up half down hairstyle, sharp eyed photographers spotted a scar above her left ear.

Collagen Stimulation:

The palace has stated that the scar is the result of a childhood operation, and has declined to comment further, describing it as a ‘private matter’. The Duchess isn’t alone is bearing a scar on her head, it is well known that the Duke of Cambridge also has one, which he describes as his ‘Harry Potter’ scar, and sustained in a golfing accident when he was thirteen years old.

As one of the most photographed couples in the world, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could be forgiven for feeling self – conscious about their scars, however Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi a facial and plastic and laser surgeon and a Medical Director of London Medical & Aesthetic Clinic tells us that both scars are treatable.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, has pioneered a technique using Collagen Stimulation which is composed of poly-lactic acid, which by stimulating the collagen which occurs naturally in the skin, can diminish the appearance of scars. The good news for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is that Collagen Stimulation treatment is almost completely painless, quick and minimally invasive, meaning that the Duchess could be straight back on her feet and at her official engagements.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi has told us that such scars could be treated by using an advanced technique compining both Collagen Stimulation treatment and SmartSkin Performa CO2 laser skin resurfacing. Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi states that ‘SmartSkin performa CO2 laser skin resurfacing can be used on scar tissue, as it uses dot technology meaning that it does not affect the normal tissue surrounding the scar. After between one and three treatments, patients could see significant improvements to the appearance of their scars, if not a complete disappearance.’
