FAQ – BodyTite

Read more about BodyTite

BodyTite is a new and innovative device that uses Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction technology, to effectively remove unhealthy and unwanted fat from various parts of the body. The technique ensures excellent skin tightening results and is performed under local anesthesia.

Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) is carried out with the innovative Invasix BodyTite system which comprises a bipolar radiofrequency hand piece and a RFAL computer device.

The BodyTite device uses multiple cannulas to extract the fatty tissue from under the skin, and works with a set of electrodes that simultaneously aspirate the coagulated tissue and heat up the soft tissues around the treated area.

Once the fat is liquefied, it is extracted immediately and the heat helps to tighten and shape the body within minutes.

The radiofrequency energy also coagulates adipose tissue and fibrous tissues which helps to sculpt and tone the body to the ideal shape. The clinicians has the ability to watch the skin contracting throughout the procedure, and has complete control over the level of energy that is being emitted throughout the treatment with a touch-screen device.

Initial trials of the BodyTite system show that the skin can retract by as much as 45% from a single procedure.

The surgeon inputs the energy to be delivered to the fat in watts, the limit of skin temperature in degrees, and high and low limits of impedance on a user-friendly touch screen. Excessive heating of fat and/or dermis is avoided since all parameters are controlled in a closed loop system.

In this procedure, the access incisions are only about 3 mm which is the diameter of the internal probe which delivers the energy. A power-assisted liposuction device is utilized to aspirate the liquefied fat.

The BodyTite is a procedure using bipolar radiofrequency energy is advantageous, in that it can quickly and precisely control the intensity and direction of energy to the fat, blood vessels, and dermis.

RFAL has benefits such as speedy treatment, considerably less tissue trauma, coagulation of blood vessels, controlled administering of energy, careful monitoring of skin temperature, and even heating of the skin and the subcutaneous layer, all of which make it superior to other Liposuction procedures.

BodyTite Areas

BodyTite is powered by Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction and is a revolutionary body contouring procedure that uses radiofrequency energy converted from electrical energy to melt fat cells, while leaving the surrounding tissues unaffected.

The Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) procedure is painless, and can effectively remove unhealthy and unwanted fat from the face, saddle bags, chin, inner thighs, buttocks, love handles, and abdominal areas, hips, knees, and more with less downtime and less risk.

While removing the excess fat deposits; this new technique can firm and shape the body and reduce wrinkles – without scars and painful injections.

BodyTite can be performed on the stomach, love handles, legs, thighs, saddle bags, neck, arms, calves and other trouble areas.

Body regions that can benefit from the BodyTite procedure include:

  • Back
  • Bra strap
  • Mons pubis
  • Breasts (gynecomastia)
  • Thighs (saddle bags)
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Upper arms
  • Areas of loose and flabby skin

Bodytite

BodyTite works best on large areas of fat that can be quickly liquefied and easily removed.

What areas of the body can be treated with BodyTite?

BodyTite Liposuction is ideal for removing surplus fat from the waist or the stubborn love handles, chin, inner and outer thighs, hips, abdomen, ankles, back, arms, neck and knees.

Who can benefit from BodyTite?

Bodytite can benefit men and women who are aged 18 and over.

With BodyTite you will see substantial fat reduction and body firming results in areas such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, arms, back and other areas of unwanted fat deposits. This can be a great option if you have skin laxity and do not want an excisional procedure or the lumpy irregular appearance commonly associated with traditional Liposuction.

This revolutionary advanced technology in body sculpting is added to our already highly developed profile of treatments specifically designed for body sculpting, fat reduction & skin tightening. This giving the advantage to our patients to have the optimum treatment to suit their individual needs.

The benefits of the BodyTite technique mean that the maximum skin contraction that is achieved through conventional Liposuction techniques can be increased by up to 40- 60%.

BodyTite by its nature is a minimally invasive cosmetic surgical procedure and a patient can expect to resume normal routines shortly afterwards. Post procedure patients must wear a compression garment for 1-2 weeks and will be expected to avoid heavy exercise in this recovery period of around two weeks post-surgery.

Fat Reduction:

BodyTite uses patented RFAL technology to gently melt and remove excess fat through an incision in an inconspicuous location. By pre-melting the fat, the removal is a far less traumatic process, greatly reducing post-procedural pain, swelling or discomfort. BodyTite will reduce fatty deposits and provide improvements to re-contour your body and provide you with the most advanced uniform treatment in the market.

Body Tightening:

One of the unique features of BodyTite is its ability to safely and precisely heat the soft tissue being contoured. This gentle and deep heating will lead to significant body tightening, often with soft tissue contraction of up to 40%.

Additional Benefits:

Patients of BodyTite can benefit from a variety of improvements ranging from the smoother appearance of cellulite (CelluTite), treatment of the neck and jaw contour (NeckTite), high-definition abdomem sculpting, tightening of loose skin in smaller areas such as the arm (ArmTite) and many others. Speak to your BodyTite provider regarding your tightening and fat reduction goals.

The BodyTite Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction procedure is performed at our state-of-the-art outpatient surgical facility, under local anesthesia. The procedure itself takes 30 – 45 minutes, depending on the area treated. Unlike traditional Liposuction methods, it offers advantages in terms of safety and comfort.

The results of the BodyTite can be seen almost immediately after treatment, however, it will take about nine weeks for the full benefits and to see any significant changes.

Although the BodyTite procedure is technically classed as a minimally invasivesurgical procedure, like any surgery possible risks and complications still exist.

Patients can possibly experience slight discomfort, bruising, discolouration, swelling, temporary lumps, excessive tightness and altered sensation around the treated area however they can expect this to last only a few days to a week.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi’s view on BodyTite:

“As an expert surgeon in BodyTite treatments, I am impressed with the quality, safety and speed of the evolutionary BodyTite which allows the surgeon to carry out the BodyTite treatment, in a safer and faster way, compared with the traditional BodyTite system. From the patient’s point of view, they are seeing faster and better results especially in skin tightening with a shorter recovery time.”

Dr Ayhan Al-Ayoubi’s BodyTite Philosophy:

I introduced BodyTite Radio-frequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) into the in 2009 speaking specifically about BodyTite , fat reduction and body sculpting, we have to understand the anatomy and physiology of the fat structure in the human body, where we have deep loose fat and superficial fat which sits just beneath the skin. This superficial fat is extremely vascular and the fat cells are positioned very closely together.

Prior to launching BodyTite into the UK, we were using traditional Liposuction to achieve fat reduction. Traditional Liposuction is performed by making an incision into the skin to suction out the deep fat in a safe way, with very good results in the majority of cases, however, it is not possible to suck out the superficial fat because of the high risk of bleeding and the damage that could happen to the skin from the inside when we remove that fat.

With some patients (about 20 per cent of cases) it can result in a ‘collapsed banana skin effect’ whereby the skin isn’t supported any longer.

As Surgeons, another problem we found with traditional Liposuction is that we are restricted in the areas that we can perform the procedure i.e. under arm liposuction surgery, that could result in numbness in the hands if the nerves have been damaged by the powerful suction, also, under the chin, which is an extremely vascular area. The bleeding could be severe during surgery.

The principle is that instead of only sucking the fat out, during a BodyTite treatment, the laser targets the fat cells membrane and punctures it, like a balloon filled with water. We pierce the fat cells and the fat leaks out and gets absorbed and drained through the lymphatic system.

I started doing BodyTite procedures with the first generation BodyTite machine which had great results in small areas, particularly in terms of skin tightening.

How does BodyTite work?

The latest Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction system BodyTite uses radiofrequency energy converted from electrical energy to melt the fat cells in your body. A small 3 mm incision is made, which is the diameter of the internal probe which delivers the energy.

On a user friendly touch screen, the Plastic Surgeon keys in the energy to be delivered in watts, the maximum skin temperature in degrees, as well as high and low limits of impedance. The device is equipped with a closed loop safety system which monitors the flow of energy and shuts down in case of overheating of the electrodes. The uniform heating mechanism allows the surgeon to direct the thermal energy exactly on the targeted region. The procedure ensures outstanding body contouring results.

Brief information about BodyTite:

The success we experienced with the original BodyTite device was greater than I thought it would be.

Plastic Surgeons recognize the demand for less invasive cosmetic procedures. Every one has realised that no longer having a clinic based only on plastic surgery is enough, as patients are going to clinics offering Smartlipo treatments because BodyTite provides good results and is less invasive.

I must stress here that BodyTite is not a lunch break fat removal treatment. Proper techniques are required.

BodyTite is not just placing a cannula under the skin for a short time and then saying: “we did the procedure!” Physicians can spend a whole day just learning how to enhance the results of Liposuction. It is an exacting and time-consuming process that requires attention to detail and consistency throughout the operating area.

Most importantly, it is the delivery of a significant amount of energy to the deep layer and a complete heating of the dermal layer to a temperature at or close to 40oC. A typical lower abdomen would require between 50 and 80 thousand joules of energy to achieve the desired results of fat reduction.

The BodyTite treatment was a revolution in the philosophy, principles and technique of fat reduction and body sculpting and the BodyTite is the evolution of this revolutionary technique.

Who performs BodyTite in our clinic?

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, at 1 Harley Street, London is the leading BodyTite Surgeon in the UK and he is an internationally recognised expert in the procedure.

Patients travel from throughout the UK and from all around the world to have Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi perform BodyTite Laser Liposuction at the Cadogan Clinic, London. Cadogan Clinic is one of the leading training centres for BodyTite treatment in the UK and Europe.

What kind of procedure after care is required?

BodyTite is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthesia or light sedation. Post procedure, you can go home and resume your routine shortly after. The patient will be required to wear a compression garment and can resume high impact exercise upon the advice of your doctor.

How quickly will I see results after BodyTite?

Visible results are seen immediately with suction. However, it will take 8 – 12 weeks post-treatment to start seeing significant results of the treatment. If large amounts of fat are to be removed, a stepped programme will probably be advised to allow for gradual reshaping. Fat can be removed from almost any part of the body.

How long does BodyTite treatment take and how many treatments are required?

For most patients, one treatment per body area is all that is normally required. The procedure itself takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes, but this depends on the treatment area and the degree of complexity. Unlike traditional liposuction methods, it offers advantages in terms of safety and comfort.

Possible side effects

BodyTite Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical radiofrequency procedure to remove excess fat, and to tighten the skin to improve the look of the treated area. It is not a weight reducing technique. It will not give you the look in the treated areas that you had when you were younger, or before you had children.

The operation is usually performed under a local anaesthetic or IV sedation. The duration of the procedure is 1-4 hours.

Although more serious complications do exist they are extremely rare, however, patients can risk Haematoma’s (smaller ones will be reabsorbed), Seroma (a collection of fluid in treated areas) and Infection. An incision of 1-3mm will be made in order to perform the BodyTite procedure and this may leave a small scar, however, this may improve and heal over time.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains that Bodytite is a radiofrequency surgical procedure and like any other radio-frequency surgical treatments it could have some side effects and complications and it’s the duty of the Surgeon to minimise the side effects, possible risks and complications of the procedure, however, they cannot be reduced.

The following list of side effects and complications has been reported ( very rarely) but patients has to be aware of them.

During the BodyTite consultation with Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, patients will have the chance to have a full discussion about the possible risks or side effects in more details.

a. Haematoma – Small haematomas are usually reabsorbed. A large one very rarely may need further surgery.

b. Seroma – A collection of fluid in the treated areas (extremely rare to happen) which may need aspiration.

c. Infection – Bacterial or fungal infection may occur, which may require antibiotics. It may lead to abscess information (very rare).

d. Scarring – A very small 1-3 mm scar will be made along the treated areas. Scars could be a permanent mark, but will improve in time. Sometimes they disappear.

e. Diminished or altered sensation – The nerves to the skin are interrupted during the procedure; you may have numbness or less feeling over the treated areas. The sensation returns over several months. Some diminished sensation may last indefinitely.

f. Swelling – May last a few days to a month, but it may take up to 2 months to improve.

g. Pigmentation – Can occur either hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. Avoid sun exposure, including sun beds, for at least 2 months.

h. Bruising and discoloration – Will last for a few days/weeks.

i. Pain and discomfort – Will be experienced. The amount varies with the individual’s tolerance. Take analgesia as required.

j. Poor healing – Can occur in some areas.

k. Asymmetry – Pre-operative asymmetry cannot be guaranteed to be corrected during the procedure.

l. Excessive tightness and bloating – Is common after surgery and is usually temporary.

m. Temporary lumps under the skin – These will resolve in time.

Life-threatening complications are rare – they may include: Deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and respiratory decompensation. Increased risk patients are those that are particularly obese, very frail elderly and those on lots of medications. These patients must be well hydrated before and after surgery, and take precautions to prevent complications.

Does it hurt?

No, Bodytite is a minimally invasive surgical procedure and is administered under a local anaesthetic. There may be a sensation of tugging and some minor stinging but this is very tolerable.

How does it differ from traditional liposuction?

Radiofrequency liposuction is a new and advanced liposuction technique that selectively removes excess fat deposits from body parts, utilizing RFAL technology. BodyTite is the first and only RFAL device awaiting FDA approval. It comes with many advanced safety features that physicians demand the most. Considered an excellent pain-free alternative to traditional liposuction, BodyTite can effectively remove the surplus fat cells and at the same time provide admirable skin tightening results – all with less downtime and minimal side effects.

How is BodyTite better than traditional liposuction?

As you age or gain weight, your skin loses its elasticity. Liposuction can compound the problem by leaving the treatment area looking lumpy or irregular. Patients with skin laxity and/or stretch marks along with fat deposits can have better results using BodyTite to firm their body and decrease the risk of post-liposuction skin laxity.

Compared to traditional liposuction, BodyTite offers a safer, gentler and less traumatic alternative with more uniform results and usually minimal postoperative discomfort and bruising.

What is FaceTite ?

FaceTite by BodyTite

The revolutionary BodyTite radiofrequency technology and the wonders it can do to the physique were widley spoken about when it was introduced into the UK by Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi in 2009. Now a new application of BodyTite has emerged and developed which promises to do the same for your face.

BodyTite has been hailed as the future of body sculpting, and its ability to tighten skin at the same time as removing fat has wowed cosmetic practitioners worldwide.

At Invasix, the manufacturer of BodyTite, has developed a new head for the BodyTite machine to create the latest application: FaceTite.

Using exactly the same radiofrequency technology as BodyTite (it’s the same machine, but with the much finer cannula to treat the more delicate face area), FaceTite promises to provide a true facelift effect, without going under the surgeon’s knife.

How does it work?

Radiofrequency Assisted Lipolysis technology provides safe and controlled directional heat to attack subcutaneous fat and tighten collagenous tissue.

Unlike BodyTite, it uses a non-aspirating cannula, which means it doesnot suck out fat, there is rarely enough fat in the face for Liposuction to be necessary, but instead works to promote a tissue contoured look, however, if necessary, fat can be removed from areas such as the jowls and below the chin.

Under local anaesthetic and if desired, some oral sedation – the FaceTite cannula is inserted just under the skin and the radiofrequency energy is used to heat the skin up to 39 degree. The effect of this is to instantly tighten the skin. FaceTite can have a tightening effect of up to 40 per cent and create a more youthful, lifted appearance.

If there’s no aspiration, why does the cannula go under the skin?

Radiofrequency energy alone will tighten skin, but if you want a turbo-charged effect, you need to trigger the body’s self-heal mechanism. Breaking the skin to insert the cannula underneath, along with the additional heating element on the body to produce more collagen. Essentially, this is how scars are produced.

How quickly will I see results?

Most patients see results immediately or within a few days, however, as with all radiofrequency treatments, results will continue to improve over a three to six week period as more new collagen is produced and skin tightens further. Depending on the area treated, the skin laxity and your desired results.

Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi, of London Medical& Aesthetic Clinic, who introduced the BodyTite into the UK in 2009 explains: “FaceTite is just what it says – a method of tightening facial skin, that takes a few minutes and gets significant improvement.”

For outstanding results, Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi says: “The BodyTite Surgeon can combine this treatment with the machine’s other modality, the revolutionary Fractora. This is a skin resurfacing treatment for lines and wrinkles, which can be done immediately post FaceTite, while the local anaesthetic is still working. What these two treatments do is treat the outside of the skin, as well as, lift it from the inside. The Fractora also offers a significant additional lifting and smoothing effect.”

Are there any long-term risks with FaceTite?

FaceTite is based on technology that has been used in operating theatres for many years. Surgeons use this technology day in, day out, in theatres to cauterise blood vessels and to allow them to carry out operations more safely.

The clever part has been to reduce the power, enhance the safety and adapt the machine so suck out fat. There is no recorded incidence of nerve damage or burns to the skin.

Why have CO2 Laser skin resurfacing as well?

If your skin is generally in good condition and you just wish to tighten up a few problem areas, then you don’t need to have Fractora. But many people have wrinkles, acne scarring or poor skin texture as well as sagging areas, and these people may find that whilst FaceTite has a great tightening affect, they don’t look quite as youthful as they had hoped after treatment.

The next big thing

Radiofrequency is currently big news in facial rejuvenation, with treatments such as Palleve hitting the market to great claims in recent months.

By heating the skin from the inside, as well as, the outside, FaceTite adds a new dimension to radiofrequency skin tightening and offers what some experts are hailing as the first true minimally invasive facelift.
