We pride ourselves to be the very first clinic to introduce the revolutionary HALO Hybrid fractional Laser into the UK and Europe by Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi in 2015.
HALO Hybrid Fractional laser new resurfacing technology has completely revolutionised the theory that better results require either more downtime or more treatments, by combining the best attributes of both non-ablative and ablative fractional lasers.
This cutting-edge, none-invasive laser treatment stretches the skin’s natural thickness for a smoother, firmer, more youthful look and patients can get ablative-like results with non-ablative-like downtime.
Now with Halo laser, patients can get ablative-like results with non-ablative-like downtime. The cutting-edge, minimally-invasive laser treatment stretches the skin’s natural thickness for a smoother, firmer, more youthful look.
Benefits of Halo Fractional Laser
Over time, the skin can lose its youthful glow due to sun exposure and the body’s natural aging process. As a result, the body may develop sun spots, fine lines, and lose that natural healthy glow.
HALO laser eliminates years of damage by precisely targeting the right depth and restores the luminous glow skin by treating discoloration sun damage, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, poor texture, fine lines and scar revision.
The benefits of a Halo treatment include both epidermal and deeper dermal pigmentation and tone and texture in the skin.
Halo laser targets years of damage to the skin and can:
- Improves the skin’s tone and laxity
- Smooth’s and softens skin texture
- Addresses sun damaged areas
- Smooths and softens the skin’s texture
- Eliminates epidermal dark spots
- Diminishes the look of large pores
- Eases fine lines and wrinkles
- Requires less downtime than similar laser treatments
- The laser energy level can be adjusted for each individual patient
HALO laser offers the flexibility of completely turning off ablation for users that are not qualified to use an ablative laser or for those looking for the simplest laser treatments.
Both the ablative and non-ablative laser wavelengths can be delivered in the same pass, and many different permutations of depths and coverage are possible.
HALO Laser Suitability
Anyone unhappy with the early signs of aging, areas of dark pigmentation and uneven skin texture may benefit from the Halo Laser.
The ideal patient is in generally good health, understands the laser treatment process, and holds reasonable expectation for results. The Halo laser can be combines with other invasive and nonsurgical treatments to provide optimal skin rejuvenating results.

HALO Laser Treatment
HAlO laser treatment is quick, lasting only 20 to 45 minutes and full-face treatment takes up to one hour. The doctor may treat wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, or forehead individually or treat the entire face.
Laser skin rejuvenation and resurfacing is a gentle laser treatment for wrinkles and sun damage. This no-downtime procedure is appropriate for the face but also for the chest, neck and hands – anywhere that sun damage shows. Depending on the degree of damage to the skin and desired results, most patients require 1-2 Halo laser treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
Local anesthetic is applied prior to HALO laser treatment and protective eye shields must be worn.
There is slight discomfort during the procedure and rarely, a mild burning sensation may occur. Patients can expect the tissue to be red and slightly swollen after a Halo Laser treatment. It is also common for the skin to be tender for several days.
A few days after the procedure, the skin may begin to look dry or flaky. This occurs as the body sheds the old tissue and new, fresh skin is regenerated.
We have found that the Halo, in most patients, has no downtime. They can wear makeup the next day and go to work. They only need to use a moisturizer, no messy balm. On the second or third day after treatment, patients will begin to notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the treated skin.
This is part of the healing process where treated tissue is working its way out of the body as new fresh skin is regenerated. During this time, the skin will be very dry and have a sandpaper texture. It will begin to flake and peel. For the face, this can last 2-5 days. If the neck, chest or anywhere else on the body was treated, this process could take up to two weeks.
After the peeling process is complete, the skin will have a rosy, pink glow that will gradually resolve. Sunscreen is a MUST throughout the entire healing process. It should be applied daily beginning the day of treatment and used vigilantly for up to three months post procedure. A post treatment kit will be provided to patients for cleansing and exfoliating the skin. Any post treatment discomfort may be relieved by over the counter oral pain relievers.
The Science behind HALO Laser
Beyond the hybrid technology that makes Halo so unique are many features that help improve usability and safety, some of the features include:
- Dynamic Thermal Optimization technology
- Intelligent energy-based parameters
- Platform approach HALO has undergone years of testing to perfect the Hybrid Fractional Laser technology
The design goal was to build a better non ablative fractional laser for doctors looking for an alternative to Contour TRL and Pro-Fractional with less downtime.
HALO laser delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same area at the same time using two different laser frequencies. This allows us to dial in the amount of energy we want to use on the surface layer of the skin and, at the same time, to dial in a different amount and depth of energy to the deeper tissues.
In testing, investigators found something remarkable. Patients treated with Halo had much better appearance related to texture and pigment improvement than expected.
Patients had amazing results in 1-2 treatments while older non-hybrid technology needed 5-6 treatments to have similar texture changes but did not approach Halo in terms of pigment correction. In addition, there was remarkable, unexpected improvement in pore size and number.
Adding tuneable ablation to a non-ablative treatment creates varying effects when different levels are used. Using low levels of ablation causes faster clearance of microscopic epidermal necrotic debris. Heavier levels of ablation seem to create a synergistic wound healing response. The clinical effect is ablative-like results with nearly non-ablative like healing.
During a non-ablative treatment, a column of the skin is heated to a temperature that necroses the epidermis and denatures dermal collagen. In the first 24 hours, the basal cell layer regenerates across the skin, under the necrosed epidermis and then proliferates upwards, expelling the necrosed tissue. This necrosed tissue becomes small packets of debris that are trapped under the stratum corneum, taking between 2 to 7 to days to clear.
Performing a 20 micron ablation followed by coagulation allows faster removal of dead skin. By removing the stratum corneum, the MENDs are free to exit the skin within a day of forming. This results in 1 – 2 days faster healing time as compared to non-ablative treatments
Sciton, a leading manufacturer of high-quality laser and light systems in the aesthetic medical market launched Halo, the world’s first and only hybrid fractional laser, applying tuneable non-ablative and ablative wavelengths in a single pass to maximize results and reduce downtime.
“Halo is not an incremental product. It is the culmination of an extensive 4 year investigation involving new understanding of laser tissue physics combined with state-of-the-art implementation of all new technology,” said Dan Negus, President of Sciton.
HALO Laser Vs Other Lasers
In the past, patients had to choose between a laser procedure that offered really great results but required a lengthy recovery, and a laser procedure with a fast recovery but marginal results. HALO laser is an exciting new laser technology which combines the benefits of 3 separate laser treatments into one, giving amazing results within the no downtime.
Previous lasers couldn’t effectively remove the sun skin damage or skin pigmentation , because the treatment was either too shallow or too deep.
With HALO laser, we can finally have the best of both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths., which can precisely dial in the exact treatment patients need for amazing results within the desired downtime.
HALO laser delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same area at the same time using two different laser frequencies, this gives Halo the unique ability to provide separate treatments for the epidermis, which heals quickly, and dermis which remodels more slowly over time. The operator may choose one of three coverage-base treatment levels, and Halo calculates the exact amount of energy necessary to complete a safe and effective treatment. Intelligent energy delivery, combined with Dynamic Thermal Optimization, ensures precise and even treatments, each and every time.
We now can address sun damage, surface texture, and fine lines and wrinkles in a combined treatment with a much easier and quicker healing experience than any other laser on the market today. In addition, it is the only laser that effectively targets large pores.
Dr Ayoubi’s Approach To Laser Resurfacing
Dr Ayoubi uses HALO laser as alone standing treatment or combining it with other treatments such as Collagen Stimulation , Chemical Peels to treat wrinkles, pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring, and overall skin rejuvenation.
Most patients require two HALO laser treatments and there is little to no downtime. As with all lasers avoiding the sun after this procedure is critical. Every patient has different needs in terms of sun damage and downtime. With Halo, we can finally have the best of both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths. With Halo we can precisely dial in the exact treatment patients need for amazing results within the desired downtime
Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi: “Our patients get the benefit of the quick recovery time of a non-ablative laser with the better effect of an ablative laser. It really does combine the best of both worlds into a single treatment.”
We are excited to start providing this new laser technology treatment to patients at our London Medical and Aesthetic Clinic, which is the only clinic in the UK to have the new HALO laser – The world’s first and only hybrid fractional laser for laser resurfacing.
