Liquid BBL

Liquid Butt Lift (BBL) otherwise known as liquid buttock lift augmentation is a non-surgical procedure which enhances the volume and the shape of the buttock/ hip dips and allows the sculpting the desirable shape of the buttocks by injecting Sculptra or Lanluma (Poly-L-lactic acid).

Not everyone is born with a round, full buttock, which is why experienced plastic surgeons are offering a number of options to help patients attain the curvy buttock which they desire.

There are few ways to add volume and enhance the shape to the buttocks:

  • Brazilian Butt Lift / Fat Transfer
  • Liquid Butt Lift / using Sculptra or Lanluma (Poly-L-lactic acid)
  • Dermal Filler Buttocks Enhancement / HYAcorp Butt Lift
  • Implants Buttocks Enhancement

At the London Medical and Aesthetic Clinic, we offer patients all types of buttock lift treatments options including the Liquid Butt Lift (BBL). The aim of non-surgical liquid buttock lift treatment is to give a natural lift and leaves no scarring. The surgeon gives a naturally enhanced look rather than completely altering the buttock shape. This ensures the buttock is not over filled or ‘fake’ looking.

The choice of the buttock lift BBL method is determined by the patient goals and personal anatomy. All options will be discussed with the surgeon at the time of the consultation. The end results should be a firmer, fuller, aesthetically proportionate figure that allows the patient to feel happy about their shape and contour.

Liquid Butt Lift Suitability

Liquid Butt Lift is a non-surgical treatment option for both men and women of various ages, who wish to improve the appearance of sunken buttocks or indented hip dips, loose skin and cellulite on the buttock or buttock asymmetry.

Loss of buttock collage from the skin due and fat to ageing, or significant weight loss, may result in flatter buttocks. The liquid buttock lift is an option to create a more shapely buttocks by injecting Sculptra or Lanluma (Poly-L-lactic acid) which can add curvature to the buttock region providing the appearance of natural looking fuller buttocks.

Generally, every adult patient is suitable for liquid Butt lift, except patients who have history of Keloid. With liquid Buttock lift it isn’t entirely predictable how much enlargement the buttock will be, therefore, we advise patients that they may need more than one session treatment, particularly if they are looking for a much enhanced and large looking buttock.

The main product used in liquid buttock lift treatment is the poly-L-lactic acid, which is a natural product suitable for increasing the volume of depressed areas, particularly to correct skin depressions in the buttock, hip dips and all parts of the body, including face, breast, décolletage and calves. It can also be used to reduce the signs of cellulite and wrinkles.

The continuous evolution of aesthetic medicine has led to the development of this discreet and non-invasive treatment, enabling patients to achieve a larger, well defined natural looking buttock with the results lasting up to 2-4 years, without the need for having aggressive or major surgery such as fat transfer or buttock implants surgery.

Mr Ayham Al-Ayoubi: “The demand for non-surgical cosmetic treatments continues to be overwhelming”. According to the latest survey, more than one third of UK people, both men and women, have felt some concerns about their body image in the last few years. Also, the body contouring treatments were the second most popular treatments, with a 480% year-on year growth over the last few years. There is a significant growing demands towards non-surgical and non-invasive cosmetic and laser treatments, which has increased by 12% compared with a decrease in cosmetic surgical procedures by 6.6%.

During the consultation with the surgeon at our London Medical and Aesthetic clinic, the patient should discuss the best options to achieve the desired outcome of the treatment.

Advantages of Liquid Butt Lift

There are very good reasons behind the huge demands on the liquid buttock lift treatment. Some of these include:

  • It is a non-surgical treatment which not requires operating theatre
  • The treatment is carried out in the clinic without the need for hospitalization
  • Patients will see some difference immediately after treatment, but results will get better with time
  • Effective treatment for patients desiring a fuller, shapelier natural looking buttock
  • The results are subtle, with a natural-looking curve and a more pronounced shape
  • Poly-L-lactic acid is used, which is a natural product
  • More natural looking results compared to other enhancement methods such as fat transfer, dermal fillers injection or gluteal implants.
  • The potential risks are very lower comparing to fat transfer, dermal fillers injection and buttocks implants surgery
  • The recovery very smooth and patients can carry out the normal activities after the treatment

Another benefit to the liquid buttock lift that, there is no risk of bleeding or encapsulation and there is a much lower risk of infection, compared to Brazilian butt lifts, fat transfer or silicone buttock implants. It does have a very high better safety profile than other substances, such as silicone caulking and sealants implants.

Unlike surgical options, the liquid buttock lift can provide gradual, natural-looking results through pain free treatment. Patients can achieve a buttock enhancement effect which typically lasts up to 2 – 5 years, without the need of having a major surgery.

Liquid Butt Lift Procedure

A Liquid Butt Lift – BBL treatment involves injecting the Poly-L-lactic acid micro-particles into the buttock/ hip dips. The Poly-L-lactic acid is then mixed with 1% Lidocaine and sterile water 24 hours prior to the treatment. The skin testing is not required before hand as the product is totally biocompatible.

During the liquid buttock lift – BBL procedure the buttock will be marked while standing to indicate the areas to be treated, and pre-treatment pictures will be taken for the clinic’s reference. The patient will then be made to lie on the treatment table. The area which will be treated will be cleansed and a topical aesthetic or numbing cream will be applied to decrease any discomfort.

Once the numbing cream has taken effect the patient will be injected with the pre-mixed Sculptra / Lanluma (Poly-L-lactic acid) to the targeted areas. The Poly lactic acid product is injected beneath into the adipose tissue of the buttock/ hip dips, into the deep part of the dermis. Using a special micro-needle or a cannula.

It will take multiple injections to get the Sculptra/ Lanluma adequately dispersed in the targeted areas. Once the liquid butt lift – BBL treatment is completed, firm massaging will be carried out on the buttock by the clinic assistants to ensure the product is evenly distributed and to prevent the formation of lumps in the treated areas.

The procedure itself takes around 30-50 minutes to perform. Patients tend to describe the process as “slightly uncomfortable” rather than painful. Also, we use a special anaesthetic cream to ensure that any discomfort is minimised.

Depending on the treated area and the desired results of the treatment, usually a course of 2-3 sessions of liquid buttock lift are required to be performed 3-4 weeks apart, to see a significant enhancement and definition as every patient is very individual and depending on the results the patient desires to achieve.

Most of the patients can achieve a 40 up to 60 percent increase in size and definition, and this is dependent on the individual patient’s needs. Although some results will be seen immediately, optimal results are seen after the course of recommended treatments have been completed. It is important for the patients to massage the treated areas post liquid butt lift – BBL treatment, twice a day for 5 days.

Following the liquid butt lift – BBL treatment, most patients often experience minor oedema at the site of injection, but this is temporary. The oedema created through injection, usually resolves after several hours to a few days. Some patient will have some redness and bruising which will last for few days. Also, patients should remember that Liquid Buttock Lift works by gradually correcting the sunken lines of the skin and hallow areas.

Liquid Butt Lift Mechanism

The liquid buttock lift – BBL procedure mechanism stimulates a foreign-body reaction and stimulates the production of collagen. This process is characterized by an increased number of mast cells, macrophages and lymphocytes.

The tissue which is formed as a result is natural-looking, and the buttock contours appear natural, and not fake-looking. The hip dips also appear much more defined and rounder as a result of the liquid buttock lift – BBL treatment.

Patients who typically receive two sessions of injections 3–4-week intervals, demonstrate signs of breaking down the Sculptra or Lanluma at around 6–9 months following injection. At around 9 -12 months following treatment, the product tends to have reabsorbed. Clinical studies have frequently demonstrated that the effects last for at least 2 – 5 years following the liquid buttock lift – BBL treatment.

Liquid Butt Lift Results

Individual results may vary from patient to patient; however, the amount of the Poly-L-lactic acid injected into each buttock / hip dips and the original shape of the buttock, the quality of the skin, patient age group and life style all have huge impact on the outcome of the liquid buttock lift – BBL procedure.

The majority of patients require 2-3 sessions; however, some patients might need 4-5 sessions of the liquid buttock lift – BBL procedure to see a significant enhancement and definition as every patient is very individual and depending on the results the patient desires to achieve.

Most of the patients can achieve a 40 up to 60 percent increase in size and definition, and this is dependent on the individual patient’s needs. Although results will be seen immediately, optimal results are seen after the course of recommended treatments have been completed.

The liquid buttock lift can provide gradual, natural-looking results through pain free treatment without the need of having a major surgery. Patients who have liquid buttock lift treatment can achieve a buttock enhancement effect which typically lasts up to 2 – 5 years.
