The London Medical and Aesthetic Clinic takes pride in being one of the leading clinics to provide Relfydess – the new anti-wrinkle treatment in the UK. Mr Ayham Al-Ayoubi is a leading facial plastic surgeon and an internationally recognized expert in facial aesthetic treatments with more than 25,000 anti-wrinkle treatments performed at our clinic since year 2000.
Galderma has achieved an exciting milestone with Relfydess, the new anti-wrinkles product gaining approval for its innovative liquid treatment for frown lines and crow’s feet.
The key points about this revolutionary new anti-wrinkles:
First-of-its-Kind: Relfydess is the first ready-to-use liquid treatment specifically targeting both frown lines and crow’s feet.
PEARL Technology: This proprietary innovation helps preserve the product’s integrity and ensures quick, effective results.
Rapid Onset of Results: Visible improvements can be seen as early as day one.
This breakthrough could represent a significant advancement in aesthetic medicine.
Relfydess Use
Relfydess is an injectable treatment developed by Galderma to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet in adult patients.
The product is based on Botulinum toxin A, a special form of botulinum toxin that works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to muscles, which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
What makes Relfydess different from other similar treatments is its ready-to-use formulation. Many other neuromodulators require mixing before they can be injected, but Relfydess is already in liquid form, which makes it easier and more convenient for both patients and practitioners.
Additionally, Relfydess is designed with PEARL Technology, which preserves the molecule’s integrity, ensuring that the treatment delivers consistent, effective results.
Relfydess Suitability
Relfydess is a a proven treatment option for men and women, who wish to soften the dynamic wrinkles and lines on a temporary basis on the frown lines, between the eyebrows, Crow’s-feet / laughter lines at the corners of the eyes, forehead creases and the bridge of the nose.
Not all facial wrinkles benefit from Relfydess treatment, as relaxed/ static wrinkles are lines that appear at rest; these do not usually improve with Relfydess treatment and the effective treatments for those relaxed lines are Dermal Fillers, Sculptra or Julaine.
Relfydess is used to soften lines and wrinkles on the upper part of the face but can also target areas like the mouth, chin, and neck. However, caution is advised to prevent compromising muscle function, particularly around the mouth.
Also, Relfydess can be used to treat various medical conditions such as migraines, chronic headache, hyperhidrosis/excess of sweating under arms, cervical dystonia, cramps, achalasia, chronic pain, neuropathy, and in some cases, depression.
Benefits of Relfydess
Quick Onset of Action
One of the most notable benefits of Relfydess is its rapid onset. In clinical trials, patients began to see noticeable improvements as soon as 24 hours after treatment, with the majority of patients observing visible changes within 2 to 3 days. This fast action makes it an attractive option for those who are looking for quick results and minimal waiting time.
Long-Lasting Effects
Relfydess delivers sustained results, with effects lasting up to six months for both frown lines and crow’s feet. Clinical data from the phase III READY trials show that up to 75% of patients maintained their results for six months. This extended duration helps reduce the need for frequent touch-ups, making Relfydess a more convenient and cost-effective option compared to other treatments that may require more frequent visits.
No Need for Reconstitution
Unlike many other neuromodulators that require reconstitution, Relfydess comes ready to use. This eliminates the need for time-consuming preparation, making the treatment process quicker and simpler for both the practitioner and the patient. The ready-to-use formulation also ensures consistent dosing every time, reducing the risk of error.
Proven Efficacy
The effectiveness of Relfydess has been demonstrated in the phase III READY clinical trial program, which involved over 1,900 participants. The trials confirmed that Relfydess significantly improved the appearance of both frown lines and crow’s feet when compared to a placebo. At one month, nearly 96% of patients had none or mild frown lines and crow’s feet, with these results maintained for up to six months in a significant number of patients.
Minimal Discomfort
As with other neuromodulators, Relfydess involves minimal discomfort during the injection process. Most patients report only mild discomfort, such as a brief pinching or stinging sensation. There is no need for general anaesthesia, and the procedure typically takes only about 10 to 15 minutes, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules.
Targeted Treatment for Specific Areas
Relfydess is specifically designed to treat frown lines and crow’s feet. Frown lines, which appear between the eyebrows when we frown, and crow’s feet, the fine lines that form at the outer corners of the eyes when smiling or squinting, are two of the most common areas treated by neuromodulators. Relfydess provides precise and targeted treatment to these areas, helping patients achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance.
The clinical trials showed impressive outcomes, with a large percentage of doctors reporting noticeable improvements in frown lines and crow’s feet, lasting for several months.
Relfydess Treatment
The procedure for Relfydess treatment is straightforward and non-invasive.
Before the Relfydess treatment, patients must have a consultation with the doctor to discuss their goals, medical history, and any concerns. The doctor will assess the patient’s frown lines and crow’s feet to determine the appropriate dosage and treatment areas.
Once the desired areas are determined, the skin must be cleansed, and ice may should be applied to minimize discomfort and reduce bruising. However, many patients find that the procedure is well-tolerated without the need for ice or anaesthesia.
Using a fine needle, the doctor will inject Relfydess directly into the targeted muscles. The injections are quick, and the entire procedure usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes. The number of injections will depend on the severity of the lines and the desired results.
After the Relfydess procedure, patients can resume most normal activities immediately. However, they should avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for the first 24 hours. Rarely, some patients could have very mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site may occur, but the redness and slight swelling resolve within a few hours.
It is best to avoid alcohol and exposure to excessive heat and strong sunlight, at least one day prior to treatment. Aspirin should be stopped five days before treatment in order to reduce bruising.
A few simple measures may optimise the safety and improve the results of the Relfydess treatment and to minimise the risk of later bruising, it is recommended that patients discontinue any of non-essential medications or dietary supplements that can cause thinning of the blood including:
Aspirin
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (Ibuprofen, Naproxen)
Fish oil supplements
Vitamin E
Alcohol
Patients should only get Relfydess treatment in a clinic by a plastic surgeon or cosmetic doctor. A typical clinical visit usually takes thirty minute.
