Ellanse Vs Dermal Fillers
Over the course of time, our skin gradually loses its natural collagen, leading to facial laxity and the formation of wrinkles and folds. Ellanse uses the body’s natural response to stimulate the generation of the body’s own collagen (neo-collagenesis) – restoring a fresh, youthful look.
Ellanse is different from other fillers, as it gives the desired beautiful aesthetic result that lasts longer than conventional dermal fillers. The unique advantages of Ellanse are sustained performance, tunable longevity and total bioresorbability.
Ellanse also offers the advantage over other fillers, as it allows immediate correction and sustained performance from one up to four years.

Is Ellansé safe?
Yes, Ellansé is considered very safe when administered by an experienced facial plastic surgeon or cosmetic doctor. It carries CE-mark certification in Europe and is FDA-approved in the US for specific indications, reflecting its compliance with rigorous safety and quality standards.
Most side effects tend to be mild and temporary, typically including redness, slight swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site, which usually resolve within a few days. In rare cases, small nodules or bumps may develop under the skin; however, these are generally manageable and tend to diminish over time.
Also, EllansĂ© is made of Polycaprolactone Microspheres that are fully bioresorbable, meaning the product naturally breaks down within the body over time without leaving any permanent foreign material. This bioresorbable, combined with it’s collagen-stimulating properties, contributes to a safe profile and natural-looking results.

Ellanse offers the maximum potential for modelling due to the combination of optimum viscosity, unique elasticity and uniform homogeneity, hence, the ELLANSE family can be used in a variety of beautifying indications: Correcting wrinkles and folds, volumizing, contouring and sculpting.
What is Ellanse filler?
Ellanse is a unique dermal filler that works by correcting the wrinkles and folds in the skin, but also by stimulating the body’s own natural collagen to have a long lasting, natural result. It is a semi-permanent filler.
Who is Ellanse Suitable for?
Ellanse is suitable for both woman and men of different adult age group. It can help with deep folds around the mouth and nose, sunken cheeks, facial scars, deep acne scars and loose skin. It has optimal bio-compatibility, due to the very smooth spherical micro-spheres. It is predictable, controlled and has tuneable bio absorption, with an excellent safety profile. How soon will I see results of Ellanse Treatment?
Immediate improvement is visible right after treatment due to the gel carrier’s volumizing effect. Over the following 3-6 months, the collagen-stimulating effects develop gradually, enhancing skin firmness, texture, and volume. Ellanse results continue to improve during this period and can last several years depending on the product used and individual patient factors.
How long does it Ellanse last for?
The results last between 1- 4 years. Nevertheless, each patient is different, nevertheless every patient is very individual and the results could vary from one patient to another.
What is the different between Ellanse & Hyaluronic Acid?
HA filler and Ellanse can be used to treat many of the same areas however they work in different ways so it is important to establish what you are looking to achieve. Both HA filler and Ellanse are great products to address lines on the face, they are ideal for Naso-labial folds and for a non-surgical nose job (Rhinoplasty).
Ellanse is ideal for long lasting lines and wrinkle correction and enhances cheek volume and stimulates collagen in a natural way. Ellanse is ideal for restoring facial contours and volume and correcting facial laxity, improving the jaw line and other areas. However, Ellanse should not be used under eyes or for lips augmentation.
Another major difference is longevity. HA fillers tend to last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the product used and area treated. Ellanse offers versions that last up to 2- 4 years.
How does Ellansé stimulate collagen production?
Mr Ayham Al-Ayoubi explains: Ellansé contains Polycaprolactone Microspheres (PCL microspheres), which act as a scaffold for patient own body’s fibroblasts (collagen-producing cells). Once injected, these microspheres remain in place as the CMC gel carrier is gradually absorbed over several weeks. The body recognizes the microspheres as biocompatible materials and responds by building collagen around them.
This collagen synthesis is a gradual biological process that results in firmer, smoother skin over time. The newly formed collagen remains in the skin even after the PCL microspheres biodegrade, which is why the aesthetic results of Ellansé last far longer than traditional fillers.
Can Ellansé be combined with other treatments?
Yes, Ellansé is often part of a comprehensive anti-aging or facial rejuvenation treatment plan and can be combined safely with many other aesthetic procedures, such as:
- Botulinum toxin to relax dynamic wrinkles
- Hyaluronic acid fillers for areas where reversibility or softness is preferred (e.g. lips, tear troughs)
- Thread lifts for additional tissue lifting
- Microneedling or RF Microneedling for texture and skin tightening
- Laser treatments or chemical peels (typically done before or weeks after Ellansé)
Can Ellanse be reversed?
Ellanse, like Hyaluronic Acid, can be dissolved. However, the cosmetic doctor must be very careful, accurate and safe to avoid any long-term complications. Also, it extremely important to have realistic expectations, choose a reputable plastic surgeon or cosmetic doctor, who should starts with a conservative amount. Furthermore, If any issues arise, they typically need to be managed with massage, steroid injections, or in rare cases surgical removal.
Is Ellanse FDA approved?
Yes, as Polycaprolactone (PCL; Ellanse, AQTIS Medical) filler available on the US market and the PCL product is FDA approved for many years in a suture and as a drug delivery system. Also, It carries CE-mark certification in Europe, all reflecting its compliance with rigorous safety and quality standards.
Can Ellanse help with skin laxity?
Yes, while Ellansé is primarily a volume-restoring and collagen-stimulating filler, the new collagen generated improves skin firmness and elasticity, which helps reduce mild to moderate skin laxity.
For severe sagging or loose skin, Ellansé is usually combined with other treatments like thread lifts, ultrasound, or radiofrequency skin tightening procedures for best results.
Will combining Sculptra and Ellansé make the results last longer?
Yes, because both stimulate collagen but in slightly different ways and durations. Ellansé provides immediate volume and long-lasting collagen support (up to 2- 4 years depending on type), while Sculptra’s collagen stimulation is more gradual and may complement the effect.
Can Ellanse be used to treat nasolabial folds?
Yes, Ellanse is very effective for treating nasolabial folds, which are the lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Over time, these folds deepen due to volume loss and skin laxity.
Ellanse restores volume by replacing the lost subcutaneous tissue and stimulating collagen production in the area, which smooths out the folds and improves facial contours.
Because of its ability to provide structural support, Ellanse can soften deep folds with a natural appearance that lasts longer than many traditional fillers. However, precise injection technique is critical in this area to avoid lumpiness or overcorrection.
How does Ellanse affect the aging process?
Aging is characterized by progressive loss of collagen, elastin, and fat in the skin, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and volume loss. Ellanse helps slow down the visible signs of aging by directly addressing collagen depletion. By stimulating your body’s own collagen production.
Ellanse restores the skin’s natural support structure, improving thickness, firmness, and elasticity. Unlike temporary fillers that simply “fill in” wrinkles, Ellansé promotes a biological rejuvenation process, which not only improves volume but also enhances overall skin quality.
This means the skin becomes more resilient, hydrated, and youthful over a longer period. The treatment essentially helps patients “age more gracefully” by supporting the skin’s natural regenerative abilities.
Are there any medications or supplements I should avoid before or after Ellanse?
Before Ellansé treatment, it is generally recommended to avoid medications and supplements that can increase bleeding or bruising risk. These include Aspirin, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Fish oil, Garlic supplements, and Certain herbal products such as ginkgo biloba or St. John’s Wort. Avoiding these for about one week prior to treatment can minimize bruising and swelling.
After treatment, it is advisable to avoid anti-inflammatory medications for a few days because inflammation is part of the natural collagen-stimulating process.
Can Ellanse help with acne scars or skin texture?
While Ellanse is not specifically designed as a scar treatment, its collagen-stimulating properties can improve mild skin texture irregularities by thickening the dermis and improving skin elasticity. This can lead to a subtle smoothing effect on superficial acne scars or creepy skin.
For deeper or more severe scars, Ellanse is often combined with other treatments such as Microneedling, CO2 laser resurfacing, or chemical peels to achieve better overall skin quality improvements.
